OUR HISTORY

 

Faced with the constant evictions and increasing construction of luxury buildings in our city, coupled with the verbal abuse and illegal evictions faced by many defenseless tenants by unfair landlords and managers, a group of volunteers decided to take action. We reflected on how to empower our community in the face of these injustices and founded the organization Comunidad Empoderando Los Angeles (CELA).

Our goal is to educate the community through workshops on tenants' rights and responsibilities, offering counseling, referrals, and the collaboration of attorneys. In this way, tenants will be better prepared to face a possible eviction.

AN EDUCATED COMMUNITY IS AN EMPOWERED COMMUNITY!!!!

 

Nuestra  Historia

Ante los constantes desalojos y las crecientes construcciones de edificios de lujo en nuestra Ciudad, junto con las agresiones verbales y desalojos ilegales que enfrentan muchos inquilinos indefensos por parte de propietarios y administradores injustos, un grupo de voluntarios decidió actuar. Reflexionamos  sobre cómo empoderar a nuestra comunidad frente a estas injusticias y fundamos la organización Comunidad Empoderando Los Ángeles (CELA).

Nuestro objetivo es educar a la comunidad a través de talleres sobre los derechos y responsabilidades de los inquilinos, ofreciendo asesoría, referencias y la colaboración de abogados. De este modo, los inquilinos estarán mejor preparados para afrontar un posible desalojo.
